Amy and I were trying to find a place to go for my 50th birthday, but couldn’t really decide where it would be. I had seen a sign several times showing a place called Oyster Rock down in Calabash. I talked to Amy about it when I picked her up from work and we decided to go. It was a little drive but it was well worth it.
The restaurant sits on the water off of Nance St. where you can sit in the dining room and look at the boats docked there and others going down the waterway. It is a great looking restaurant with a bar when you walk in and even has a private room set off the dining room.
The menu is extensive in that they have everything you could want from a seafood restaurant and more.To start us out they brought out some homemade potato chips with an ole bay dip. Awesome is the only word for these. As I looked over the appetizers my eyes were drawn to one thing I really like and that is oyster Rockefeller. These oysters were topped with a spinach prosciutto mixture covered with hollandaise sauce and Parmesan cheese. These were totally outstanding and worth every penny.
We both chose our entrees in which Amy got the appetizer size of Coconut shrimp with an order of hush puppies. As for myself, I went with an old favorite in a seafood platter, broiled that is, with shrimp, oysters, and flounder. Of course it came with cole slaw and fries. Ya’ll this food was really outstanding. So trust me when I say this, you need to go try this place out and tell them Big Daddy sent you.
